Hilton Head Beaches

It’s no secret that many people choose to retire in Hilton Head because of the beaches. And if variety is what you’re after, you’re in luck. There are more than a few beaches in the area to choose from.

Folly Field

A public beach with plenty of room to spread out, Folly Beach offers clean sand and beautiful sunsets. Amenities include nearby parking, restrooms, outdoor showers, water stations, and a lifeguard station. There is also a ramp for handicap access.

Coligny Beach

A family-friendly public beach, you’ll find clean restrooms, private changing stations, and shaded porch swings at Coligny Beach. It’s also within walking distance to popular beachside bars and Lowcountry Celebration Park—a 10-acre park that’s great for the grandkids.

Driessen Beach

A preferred spot among the locals, you’ll find fewer crowds here during the busier seasons. Enjoy a long walk over the salt marsh via a boardwalk that makes it easy to access the beach. Plus, many nesting crabs call this beach home so there are plenty of shells to be found.

Singleton Beach

Located in the middle of the island, this popular local hangout offers a large stretch of sand that also attracts colorful corals, loggerhead sea turtles, pelicans, snowy egrets, bald eagles, and dolphins. If you want to witness hundreds of turtle nests across the beach, pay a visit sometime between May and October.

Outdoor activities in Hilton Head

Beaches aside, there is no shortage of outdoor activities in Hilton Head. Although many of them do include the water. Take a sailing tour and go dolphin watching or get even more adventurous with a boating tour where you get to be the tour guide (catch a glimpse of dolphins, eagles, ospreys, egrets, otters, and more).
