About the Area
Located just outside of Bluffton in the New Riverside area, The Haven at New Riverside is located in one of the South’s most prestigious and beautiful areas: the marshes, rivers, and forests seem to compete with the ocean in daily beauty contests. Rich with recreational opportunities, fine dining, and great shopping, the area is very special—from its historic sites to its world-class beaches.
Shopping
You can shop for everything you need close by at Wal-Mart, Target, Sam's Club, and many additional local stores. Parris Island Marine Corps Exchange and Parris Island Commissary, both in Beaufort, are other excellent local choices. Shopping destinations in the area include Oglethorpe Mall and Savannah Mall in Savannah, and The Mall at Shelter Cove and Coligny Plaza on Hilton Head Island.
Recreation
The area has a lot to offer, with everything from the quiet nature walk to the noise and excitement of drag racing. Head to Savannah to check out the Mighty 8th Army Air Force Museum, Fort Pulaski, the Savannah Wildlife Refuge, the Savannah Drag Strip, or watch the Savannah Sand Gnats minor league team play baseball. The Armory and Parris Island Museums in Beaufort are other great options to explore. And last but not least—if golf is your game, welcome to heaven.
Medical
Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics, Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort Naval Hospital, and St. Joseph's Candler and Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah are all within a short drive. For everyday medical attention, the Bluffton/Okatie Outpatient Center is minutes away.
Culture / Entertainment
Local favorites for a day or night out include The Johnny Mercer Theater in Savannah and the Self Family Art Center. You will find a plethora of historical sites in Beaufort, Savannah, and Charleston to visit, and over 300 restaurants within 30 minutes of home.
Transportation
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and the Amtrak train station in Savannah are a short drive from The Haven.
Schools
The Bluffton/Okatie School District serves the area. Colleges include the Technical College of the Lowcountry and the University of South Carolina’s local chapter of USC.
